Before the summer of 2002 I knew little about the
subject of information security. By that fall, I had a crash course in
it, thanks to author Tom Parenty and Harvard Business School Press.
I assisted Tom in a complete overhaul and
chapter-by-chapter revision of his manuscript for "Digital Defense: What
You Should Know About Protecting Your Company's Assets." Working closely
with Harvard's development editors, Tom and I developed a new structure
for the book. I guided Tom through the difficult rewrite process, made
more challenging by Harvard's tight timeframe. Tom wrote -- and I edited
-- many thousands of new words in approximately four months.
Tom's
book was accepted and was published in summer 2003.
